I’m a Californian by birth and temperament. I grew up hiking through the soaring mountains of the Sierra Nevada and hanging out at the beaches near Santa Cruz. Vibrant colors were part of my life’s tapestry. My formal education was at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After starting my career as a financial advisor in Minneapolis with Ameriprise, I went back to school in the evening and earned my MBA from The University of St. Thomas. I’ve been associated with Ameriprise since 1988.
My artistic talents manifested itself in the performing arts in my youth. I can juggle and ride a unicycle, and I’ve sung and danced and traveled the world with Up With People. In recent years, I’ve been mentored by two very important people who have turned my attention to the visual arts: Tom Littrell, who partnered with me and curated our first four ArtScene shows, provided hands on coaching and critique as we worked to stage other artists’ pieces in our shows. And Tom Furst, who loaned me books on the Abstract Expressionists, and shared his passion for art while introducing me to the stunning work of some amazing artists. These two men helped inform my appreciation of the visual arts, which ultimately lead to my putting brush and palette knife on canvas and exploring this form of creative expression.
