About the artist-
Dee Santorini is a potter, a sculptor, and painter.  Texture and movement and flow are an essential part of all of her work.  Dee’s Raku Obelisks are 6-10 foot tall sculptures made of smoked clay.  These obelisks can be subtle and earthy, or hard-edged, metallic modernism —and can be custom designed for an individual space.
Paintings- Dee paints both tight, realistic paintings and loose, expressive abstracts that capture the link between humanity and nature.  Her Serengeti series explores the interesting colors and patterns of life in Africa.   Her latest work is Enkaustikos-- painting and capturing texture with hot pigmented wax. Clay Art C Dee Santorini creates both sculpture and wheel-thrown pottery, firing with smoke infusion that brings a unique earthiness to all of her work.
Dee Santorini has served as president of the Rockford Art Guild, donating her time to helping local artists learn practical skills they need to continue their artistic challenge.  She has worked to develop art shows for this group, in an effort to make the decision to become an artist more viable.
Dee also runs the Raku firing program at a local nonprofit organization, and is very active in the arts in the Midwest.
